Solar chimney power plant integrated with a photocatalytic reactor to remove atmospheric methane: A numerical analysis

Methane (CH4) is the second largest contributor to global warming among all greenhouses gases. A solar chimney power plant integrated with a photocatalytic reactor (SCPP-PCR) promising large-scale method for removing CH4 from atmosphere. This study used computational fluid dynamics (CFD) investigate performance and factors influencing oxidation of methane by SCPP-PCR system. The geometry SCPP same as prototype built in Manzanares (Spain). PCR designed based on honeycomb monolith photoreactor. numerical results revealed that system can degraded 21,312 g per day actual radiation data when channel diameter was 4 mm length 8 m. Although increasing or decreasing would improve efficiency, rate airflow be reduced. maximum purification determined.
